FHN Publications will be holding meetings for students interested in joining staff next year. The meetings are Tuesday after school at 2:30 or Wednesday before school. at 6:50 a.m. in room 026. Interested students should be at one of the meetings. The meetings will cover what being on staff means, requirements, trips, obligations, and answer any questions that students may have about being on staff.
The ACT that was scheduled for this past weekend, Dec. 14, 2013, was cancelled and has now been rescheduled. The official rescheduled date for the test at FHN is now Jan. 11, 2014 at 8:00 AM. The Guidance Office has not been notified by the ACT company, but students who were registered for the cancelled December test date have received emails regarding the new rescheduled test date.
Mock Rock, FHN’s annual talent show, usually showcasing students lip-syncing, was cancelled yesterday morning by Student Council sponsors Jani Wilkens, Shelly Parks and President Rowan Pugh. They decided to cancel the event because of groups dropping out of the show. “We almost didn’t start the planning of the show because we didn’t have enough acts,” sponsor Jani Wilkens said.
French Club members are selling Père Noël grams for $1 until Dec. 3. Père Noël grams are holiday messages that will be delivered to a student or staff member in first hour on Friday, Dec. 6. Père Noël is the French equivalent to Santa Clause in the United States. According to the tradition, on Christmas Eve, children leave their shoes by the fireplace filled with treats for Père Noël before they go to bed.

Hallemeier competed in the Humorous Interpretation category.
The escalating threats and rhetoric that North Korea initiated in the past few weeks have many Americans wondering what the future will hold. The United States needs to encourage peace with North Korea and prevent a conflict without the loss of life. North Korea has had a long standing history of aggression with the United States, and in recent weeks, threats and aggressive statements have intensified.
